The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball and softball teams returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Bison of North Iowa, Buffalo Center at Greenwood Park in Top of Iowa West Conference action. Eagle Grove baseball entered with a record of 15-9, while Eagle Grove softball entered with a mark of 13-13.
Eagle Grove baseball would take down North Iowa by a final of 10-0 on Wednesday night, Jake Jeske would lead the charge offensively, going 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI singles, as well as a 2-run home run, his first of the season. Nolan Krauss would add 2 RBI on the night as well for the Eagles. Jake Jeske also pitched all 5 innings, allowing no runs off 3 hits, while striking out 9 batters.
Eagle Grove softball found themselves in a back-and-forth affair with North Iowa, as the game was tied at 3-3 in the 5th, before North Iowa took a 6-3 lead in the 6th. However, Eagle Grove would add 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take a 7-6 lead, and hold on for the 1-run victory. Addy Jeske would go 2-for-4 on the night with 2 singles and 3 RBI, while Braxton Steil, Celeste Figueroa and Lily Locke all contributed RBI as well. Brooklyn Osborn would pickup the win, throwing 6 innings, allowing 6 runs (0 earned) off 9 hits, while striking out 7. Mya Morgan would pick up the save for Eagle Grove.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Thursday night, as they host Webster City. Eagle Grove baseball returns to action next Wednesday, when they take on the winner of South Central Calhoun/Manson-Northwest Webster in their Class 2A, District 3 semifinal in Carroll.
