The South Hamilton baseball and softball teams returned to action on Monday night, as they took on the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action. South Hamilton baseball entered with a record of 8-11, while South Hamilton softball entered with a record of 4-19.
Hawks baseball looked to play spoiler to West Marshall’s hopes of a perfect conference season, but after 2 scoreless innings, the Trojans put up a 3-spot in the 3rd to take a 3-0 lead. This was followed by a run in the 4th and 3 more runs in the 5th as West Marshall led 7-0 after 5, which wound up as the final score. Owen Siegert pitched a 2-hit, complete game shut out with 16 strikeouts in the win for the Trojans.
Hawks softball would fall to West Marshall by a final of 14-2, after the Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. The Trojans would answer by scoring 14 unanswered to pick up the 5 inning win. Designated Hitter Jenna Randall and freshman Riley Randall would tally 3 RBI each for the Trojans.
South Hamilton returns to action on Wednesday, as they host PCM at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex in Heart of Iowa Conference action.
