Webster City varsity sweeps NCC showdowns with St. Edmond

The Webster City Lynx baseball and softball teams returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted Fort Dodge, St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City baseball entered with a record of 10-13, while Webster City softball entered with a record of 10-14.

Lynx baseball would take care of business in a timely manner on Monday night, taking down the Gaels by a final of 12-1 in 5 innings. Keegan Hisler would have the top day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 3 singles and 4 total RBI. Connor Hanson would go 1-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI for the Lynx, while Trevyn Lyons would tally 2 RBI and Jaxon Griffith would tally just 1 RBI. Brady Asklund would pitch all 5 innings, allowing 1 run off 4 hits and striking out 8 batters.

The softball game was a battle for positioning atop the NCC standings, as Webster City sat a game back of the first-place Gaels, and the Lynx would not disappoint on their home field, upending St. Edmond by a final of 3-1. Webster City would score 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to be the difference maker, Delainey Bargfrede pitched the complete game, allowing 1 unearned run and not allowing an extra-base hit.

Webster City returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Clarion to take on Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in NCC action.
