The Webster City Lynx baseball and softball teams returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the Algona Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Lynx baseball entered with a record of 10-11, while Lynx softball entered with a record of 8-11.
Webster City baseball would score their second, ten-run rule victory over the Bulldogs on Wednesday night, winning by a score of 10-0, with the Lynx scoring in all 6 innings they played on Wednesday night. Keegan Hisler went 2-for-2 with a single, a double and 3 RBI, while Josh Stansifeld went 1-for-4 with an RBI double. Freshman Gavin Griffith pitched the complete game shut-out, allowing no runs on 5 hits, while striking out two batters.
Lynx softball extended their NCC win streak to 6 games, extracting revenge on an early-season loss to Algona, taking home a 5-1 win. Webster City’s scoring started in the 4th inning, with Trinity Griffith knocking in an RBI single to put Webster City up 1-0, that was then followed by Breanna Bahrenfuss plating two more runs on an RBI single of her own to put the Lynx up 3-0. Algona would get a run back in the top of the 5th, but the Lynx put up 2 more insurance runs to score a 5-1 win, and with St. Edmond’s loss to Clear Lake, put Webster City back into the conference title race.
Webster City returns to action on Thursday, as softball hosts Pocahontas Area, and baseball hosts West Marshall.
