The South Hamilton Community School Board approved several fund raisers at Monday evening’s board meeting for next school year. They include a youth boys basketball camp, penny wars for the National Honor Society, and the South Hamilton Music Boosters with yard signs, red wheel sales, a dodgeball tournament and the middle school honor band. The South Hamilton board approved a contract extension with the Anderson Erickson Dairy for next school year. There was the approval of the 7 through 12 grade social studies curriculum from McGraw Hill for U.S. History, World History,Exploring Georgraphy and Global Issues for $16,154. The board approved a curriculum for the 7 to 12 grade students for mathematics from McGraw Hill for Glencoe Math at $27,828.
In other matters, the South Hamilton board Monday evening reviewed and accepted the recommendations from the School Improvement Advisory Committee which met on May 10,2023. . In personnel matters, the South Hamilton school board the following hirings including Melissa Bridges as an elementary office manager, Molly Wingert as a 5th through 12th grade art teacher,Jessica Onove as an elementary library associate, Tori Woiwood as an elementary associate, Shawnda DeWitt as a part time evening custodian, Amy Trask as student council advisor, Bianca Webber as a mentor for Katelyn Sogard, Tiffany Meier as a mentor for Desiree Fisher, Savana Berg as a mentor for Taylor Riley, and Lori Vincent as a mentor for Rachel Soderberg. The board accepted resignations from Ava Nolte and Lisa Thompson as elementary associates. The school board election first day to file nomination papers is August 28th with the last day to file being September 21 at 5:00 p.m. Election Day is November 7,2023. South Hamilton director districts 1,2 and 3 and the newly established At large director seat will be on the ballot.
