Webster City softball falls to Carlisle, splits tournament games

The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Carlisle Wildcats from the Raccoon River Conference in non-conference action at Webster City High School. The Lynx entered with a record of 6-8.

The Lynx battled with a good Carlisle team, but the Wildcats were able to pull away late for a 6-3 win. Wildcats third basemen Delaini Thompson came through with a big RBI single in the win.

Webster City would then host their annual home tournament on Saturday, as they opened the day with the West Marshall Trojans from the Hear of Iowa Conference. West Marshall would break the 3 inning scoreless drought, by punching in a run in the 4th to lead 1-0. The Lynx would take the lead in the bottom of the 5th with 2 runs, before West Marshall tacked on 3 runs in the 6th to take the lead for good in a 4-2 win.

Brad Van Deer’s squad would round out the day with a matchup against Pella Christian, where Webster City trailed 4-3 after 3 innings. That was before the Lynx put up 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a 6-4 lead, before the time limit was reached to cap off a 6-4 win.

Webster City returns to action on Monday night, when they travel to Hampton to take on Hampton-Dumont-CAL.
