Roland-Story superintendent Matt Patton announced late Sunday afternoon that the Roland-Story school district had selected their new activities director in former Spirit Lake wrestling coach Andrew Lundgren. Lundgren replaces outgoing AD Brian Peterson, who will be taking a position with Bound, while still coaching boys track and field for Roland-Story.
Lundgren is a native of Orange City, Iowa and graduated from MOC-Floyd Valley High School, before playing football for the hometown Northwestern Raiders in college as a defensive end. Lundgren was head wrestling coach at Spirit Lake for 11 seasons, coaching 4 individual state champions and leading the Indians to a 2nd-place finish in the 2019 Class 2A Traditional State Tournament.
Lundgren is expected to approved as the new activities director by the Roland-Story School Board at their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday night.
