The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they traveled east on Highway 30 into Marshall County to take on the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action in State Center. The Norsemen entered with a record of 5-4 on the season.
The teams would trade blows back and forth for the entirety of the contest, but it was Roland-Story that would have the last laugh with a Reagan Faber RBI Double to score Kate Berggren and give the Norsemen a 7-6 lead and the win in 8 innings. Faber would go 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, while Kayley Birkland would go 1-for-5, but with a team-high 3 RBI. Alyssa Jones would pick up the win, pitching 6 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) off 6 hits and striking out 4.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Thursday night, when they host East Marshall at the Hennessy Diamonds in Roland.
