The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Saydel Eagles from the Heart of Iowa Conference in non-conference action. Webster City entered at 6-9, while Saydel entered with a record of 7-4.
It was a fast start for the Eagles, as they scored three runs in the top of the first, all of them unearned off Lynx starter Gaving Griffith, before the Lynx responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the first. Both teams traded scoreless frames before Webster City put 7 runs in the 4th inning, before adding 1 run each in the 5th and 6th innings, to seal a 13-3, 6 inning win.
Gavin Griffith pitched all 6 innings, allowing 3 runs (0 earned) off 3 hits, striking out 8 batters and walking 2 batters. Junior Josh Stansfield had a perfect night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with 3 singles and 3 RBI, as Briar Klaver and Connor Hanson each had 2 RBI on the night.
Webster City returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Clear Lake to take on the Lions in NCC action.
