The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Railsplitters of Des Moines Lincoln at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 5-5, while Des Moines Lincoln entered with a 4-8 record.
Game 1 would become a war of attrition, as Roland-Story held an initial 1-0 lead after the first inning. Des Moines Lincoln would then respond with 2 runs each in the 3rd and 4th to take a 4-1 lead. The Norsemen would respond quickly with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th, before tying the game with a run in the bottom of the 5th. From there, the Norsemen and Railsplitters would play 7 more innings, as Des Moines Lincoln finally broke the tie in the 12th inning with 2 runs, to come away with a 6-4 victory.
Game 2 would be played, but eventually forfeited by Des Moines Lincoln due to a pitch count violation that was detected by Roland-Story early in the game. The game would still play out before the forfeit was given afterwards.
Roland-Story improved to 6-6 on the season, and will travel to conference-leading West Marshall on Wednesday night for a doubleheader.
