Eagle Grove baseball falls at Nevada, 10-7

The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team made the trip south on Tuesday night, to take on the Nevada Cubs in non-conference action at the SCORE Athletic Complex in Nevada. The Eagles entered at 7-5, while Nevada entered at 3-5.

It would be a fast start for the Cubs, as they would score the first 7 runs of the game, leading 7-0 after 4 innings. Eagle Grove would then stage a furious rally, scoring 6 runs in the top of the 5th to make 7-6, before Nevada answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the 5th to make it 8-6. Eagle Grove would add another run in the 6th to make it 8-7, but Nevada would pick up 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th, and slam the door shut on the Eagles in the 7th, en route to their 10-7 win.

Freshman Syrus Willard went 4-for-4 on the night with 4 singles, Mack Morgan and 8th-grader Trenton Robinson had 2 RBI each.

Eagle Grove returns to action on Wednesday night, when they host North Union at Greenwood Park in Top of Iowa West action.
