The Roland-Story Norsemen girls golf team made the trip west on Highway 30 on Wednesday morning, to compete in the Class 2A, Region 2 tournament at Carroll Municipal Golf Course in Carroll. The Norsemen were joined by the hosts in Carroll Kuemper, as well as Clarinda, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Des Moines Christian, Iowa Falls-Alden, Red Oak, Underwood and Van Meter.
Wednesday turned out to be a banner day for Larry Ammerman’s squad, as Roland-Story took home the 2A, Region 2 team title, with a team score of 348, while Van Meter was 2nd with a score of 357.
Freshman Brinley Carlson was the individual champion with a score of 77 (+5) and junior Makenna Carlson was the silver medalist with a 78 (+6). Rounding out the varsity scoring for the Norsemen included Abby Cook shooting a 96 (+24) and Brooke Thompson shooting a 97 (+25).
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows junior Sawyer Morrical also competed, as she shot a 100 (+28) and placed in a tie for 20th with Roland-Story’s Grace Corcoran.
