Bennett “Ben” Mechaelsen, 65 of Webster City, IA, died on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City, IA.  Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) is caring for the family’s needs. Bennet Lee Mechaelsen (August 23, 1957 – May 12, 2023)
Bennet Mechaelsen, known to his loved ones as Ben, passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 65. Born on August 23, 1957, Ben lived a life filled with love, adventure, and connections with those around him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Ben is survived by his mother, Patricia Mechaelsen and daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Hart of Carroll,IA and her children MaKayla (her children Iris and Kyren) Dillon,  Michael, Brayden, Jamie (Andy) Johnson of Cedar Falls, IA and their children Senica, and Elliana, Catherine (Michael) Monachino of Urbandale,IA and their daughter Cecilia, Amy Mechaelsen of Colorado, step-daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Brown of Fort Dodge, IA and their children Cameron and Maddox.
Ben was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Mechaelsen, his brother, Brad Mechaelsen and his dog Roxie, who was by his side throughout many years.
In 1974, Ben married Wendy Bauer and he later married Peggy Price in 1988.
Throughout his life, Ben battled with addiction and found solace and strength in the support of (AA). For nearly 18 consecutive years, he remained committed to the program, and even during the years that followed, he sought solace and guidance from AA.
A lover of the great outdoors, Ben found peace and joy in hunting, fishing, and canoeing. He was known to embrace his competitive side, taking part in dragon boat races for many years while working at Electrolux. His enthusiasm and dedication to these activities brought him closer to friends and allowed him to forge strong connections within his community.
Ben had a unique ability to connect with everyone he encountered. His warm smile and compassionate nature made others feel seen and valued. He cherished spending time with his friends and family, creating lasting memories and sharing laughter and stories.

Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to join together during this time to share memories, offer support, and celebrate the life of Ben.
