The South Hamilton boys golf team made the trip down south into Jasper County on Wednesday morning, to compete in their Class 1A Sectional at Diamond Trail Golf Club in Lynnville. The Hawks were joined by the host Eagles, as well as Baxter, Grandview Christian, Martensdale-St. Marys, Melcher-Dallas and Montezuma.
South Hamilton would place 2nd in the tournament, shooting a 331 and clinching a spot at next Monday’s district meet at CAM, Anita. Landon Sogard would take home 2nd overall, shooting a 76 (+4). Tyler Schachtner would tie for 8th, shooting an 83 (+11), while Tjerdan Johnson placed 10th with an 84 (+12), before Luke Martensen rounded out the Hawks lineup with an 88 (+16).
Montezuma was the team sectional champion, shooting a whopping 311. South Hamilton will advance to compete at next Monday’s district meet, hosted by CAM, Anita at Crestwood Hills Golf Course, beginning at 10 AM.
