The Webster City Lynx boys golf team made the trip south and west on Wednesday morning, to compete in their Class 3A Sectional Tournament at Carroll Country Club in Carroll. The Lynx were joined by the host Tigers, as well as Boone, Gilbert, Greene County, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden and Nevada.
The story of the day for Webster City was the play of Braden Doering who placed in a tie for 3rd with a score of 78 (+6), along with Gilbert’s Hudson White. That score was good enough to send the junior onto the district tournament at MOC-Floyd Valley on May 15th.
As for the remainder of the team, the hopes of a return trip to the state tournament faltered as Webster City shot a team score of 340, while Gilbert and Hampton-Dumont-CAL were the two squads that moved on to next Monday’s district round. The rest of the Webster City lineup saw Cael Nixon place 11th with a score of 82 (+10), Braylon Plain placed 16th with a score of 86 (+14), and Trevyn Lyons rounded out the scoring with a 94 (+22).
