The Webster City Lynx soccer teams returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Bulldogs of Hampton-Dumont-CAL in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. The Lynx girls entered with a 3-9 record, while the Lynx boys entered with a 9-1 record.
The Webster City girls opened the evening by taking on an HD-CAL team, whom the Lynx 10-goal ruled in Hampton earlier in the season. Monday night was much of the same as Webster City raced out to a 4-0 lead at halftime, and only built on that lead in the 2nd half, en route to a dominant 9-0 win.
Webster City’s boys followed, looking to complete the season sweep of a good Bulldogs squad, but the Lynx got behind the 8-ball early as the Bulldogs struck first to lead 1-0. However, Webster City would finish the 1st half with an onslaught, as Eduardo Perez tied the game in 17′ mark to make it 1-1. Just 3 minutes later, Perez would strike again to make it 2-1 Webster City, before Eddy Fuentes waited just under 2 minutes to make it 3-1 Lynx going into halftime.
The avalanche of goals continued into the 2nd half, as Eric Calles scored early in the frame to make it 4-1, before Eduardo Perez converted on a penalty kick to make the score 5-1. Connor Peck would add a goal of his own in the 2nd half as well, making the score 6-1 before the game was called due to lightning with 9:30 remaining.
Webster City’s boys improved to 10-1 on the season, while the Webster City girls improved to 4-9.
