The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys golf teams made the trip into rural Kossuth County on Monday morning, to compete in the annual North Central Conference golf tournament at Spring Valley Golf Course. The Cowboys and Lynx were joined by hosts Algona, as well as Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Humboldt, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.
Webster City would place 4th in the tournament, with a team score of 327 on the day. Braden Doering was the top golfer on the day for the Lynx, shooting a 79 (+7) and placing in a tie for 11th, while Cael Nixon placed 13th with a score of 80 (+8). Brylon Plain would tie for 17th with a score of 83 (+11), while Luke Firsching rounded out the varsity scoring by tying for 22nd with a score of 85 (+13).
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 7th in the tournament as a team, with a team score of 348. Cale Kirstein would be the Cowboys top golfer on Monday, tying for 9th with a score of 78 (+6). Colin Kirstein and Carson Nesheim would tie for 27th, each shooting an 88 (+14), while Landen Kakacek rounded out the varsity scoring by shooting a 94 (+22), and tying for 36th.
Clear Lake was the tournament champion, with a team score of 310.
