The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows golf teams were joined by Iowa Falls-Alden for a North Central Conference triangular on Monday afternoon. The girls held their meet at Briggs Woods Golf Course in Webster City, while the boys held their meet at Highland Golf Club in Iowa Falls.
Webster City’s girls would place 2nd in their meet, shooting a team-total 211. Iowa Falls-Alden won the meet with a score of 197, while CGD was third, shooting 241 as a team. Alley Odland and Claire Bailey were the top Lynx golfers, with each shooting a 50 (+14), Carly Appel would shoot a 52 (+16), while Kennedy Hailing would shot a 59. Claryssa Hanson and Alleyna Dawson would round out the Lynx lineup by shooting a 65 and 71, respectively.
CGD’s top golfer was Sawyer Morrical, who shot a 46 (+10) to finish 3rd overall, while Aysa Lyons would shoot a 60. Sydney Frieselebn, Claire Kirstein, Jordyce Duncalf and Paige Brooks would all shoot above a 66.
In Iowa Falls, the boys meet was a tight one throughout, with Webster City prevailing with a team score of 165. Iowa Falls-Alden would place 2nd with a score of 177, while CGD was 3rd with a team score of 186.
Sophomore Cael Nixon would claim the individual title, shooting a 39 (+3), while Braden Doering, Braylon Plain and Trevyn Lyons would all tie for 2nd, with each golfer shooting a 42 (+6). Brandon Lahr would shoot a 47 (+11) and Ty McKinney shot a 49 (+13) to round out the Lynx lineup.
CGD would get a 5th place finish from Cale Kirstein, who shot a 43 (+7), as he tied for 5th with Iowa Falls-Alden’s Colton England. Colin Kirstein would place 9th with a 45 (+9), while Landen Kakacek and Mack Seaba each shot a 49 (+13). Kakacek would have the shot of the day, achieving his first hole-in-one on Hole #4. The Cowboys varsity lineup would round out with Luke Brownell shooting a 53 (+17) and Carson Nesheim shooting a 54 (+18).
