Roland-Story girls compete in Saydel Girls Invite

The Roland-Story Norsemen girls track team made the trip south into the Des Moines Metro on Monday night, to compete in the Saydel Girls Invite at Saydel High School in Des Moines. The Norsemen were joined by the host Eagles, as well as Ankeny Centennial, Ballard, Bondurant-Farrar, Des Moines North, Des Moines Roosevelt, Indianola and North Polk.

Roland-Story would not pick up a win in the meet, but did grab a number of 2nd-place finishes. The first 2nd-place finish came from sophomore Claire Truesdell, who was runner-up in the 3000 meter in a time of 11:17.23, a new school-record, breaking the previous time of 11:20 set by Kylie Anderson in 2011. The remainder of the Norsemen’s runner-up finishes came in the relays, placing 2nd in the Sprint Medley in a time of 1:56.41 with the team of Sporleder-Faber-Lande-Petersen.

The Norsemen would then place 2nd in the 4×200 Relay in a time of 1:49.79 with the team of Sporleder-Petersen-Kilstofte-Lande, before placing 2nd in the 4×100 Relay in a time of 52.40 with the quartet of Sporleder-Petersen-Faber-Lande.

Roland-Story would place 5th in the meet with 80.5 points, North Polk was the team champion with a staggering 212.5 points. Full results can be found online at aatiming.com.
