The Webster City Lynx soccer team made the trip north on I-35 on Thursday night, to take on the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action. The Lynx entered at 1-1, while the Lions entered at 2-0.
It was a fast and furious start for the Lynx, as they struck first with a goal from junior midfielder Eduardo Perez in the 13th minute to put Webster City up 1-0. Craig Signorin’s bunch would then strike again, almost instantaneously, as sophomore midfielder Conner Peck would put Webster City up 2-0 with a goal in the 16th minute.
Clear Lake would get on the board before halftime, with a goal from senior Leo Tolentino to cut the score to 2-1. The 2nd half would turn into a defensive battle, and one the Lynx would not budge in as Webster City held on for a 2-1 victory.
Webster City returns to action on Monday, when they host Belmond-Klemme at Lynx Field in Webster City.
