Area girls teams compete at Lady Eagle Relays

The Webster City Lynx, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and  Eagle Grove Eagles girls track teams returned to action on Thursday night as Eagle Grove hosted their annual Lady Eagle Relays at Eagle Grove Elementary School. Webster City, CGD and  Eagle Grove were joined by Algona, Belmond-Klemme, Fort Dodge, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Pocahontas Area and West Hancock.

KQ-area schools were able to grab and handful of event wins on Thursday evening, as Webster City’s Cloe Savitski won the 200-meter dash in a time of 28.26, a new season-best. CGD’s Mikayla Beisel brought home a pair of gold medals as well, winning the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.39, a time that would currently qualify her for the Drake Relays. Beisel would then follow that up with a win in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:11.93.

Finally, Eagle Grove picked up an individual champion in the long jump as Addyson Jeske won with a jump of 15′ 2.50″. Other notable marks from KQ-Area athletes included Mikayla Beisel of CGD placing 2nd in the high jump with a mark of 5′ even, while Kennedy Trca of CGD placed 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.31. Cloe Savitski of Webster City placed 2nd in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.35, while Eagle Grove’s Ayden Feske placed 3rd in a mark of 13.46. Webster City would also pick up a 2nd place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay and the sprint medley.

CGD would place 4th in the meet with 71 points, while Webster City was 6th with 46 points, and Eagle Grove in 7th with 24 points. Algona was the meet champion with 129 points, edging out Fort Dodge by a single point.
