The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls track teams made the northern trek on Thursday night, to compete in the North Iowa Girls Indoor Championships at the Clear Lake Athletics and Wellness Center in Clear Lake. The Lynx and Cowgirls were joined by the host Lions, Algona, Central Springs, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, Lake Mills, Nevada and St. Ansgar.
The evening began with field events, as CGD’s Ellie Mewes placed 16th in the girls shot put with a best throw of 28′ 11.5″, Jacqueline Kirstein placed 24th with a toss of 26′ 7″, while Ella Tew placed 36th with a throw of 21′ 11.5″. Webster City’s Jakaela Cherry placed 19th with a throw of 28′ 2″, while Breanna Bahrenfuss placed 26th with a toss of 26′ 3.5″. In the high jump, CGD’s Makayla Biesel took home bronze with a jump of 5′ even, while Webster City’s Alivia Burns placed 10th with a jump of 4′ 4″. Finally, in the long jump, CGD’s Makenna Hasty placed 5th with a jump of 14′ 9.75″, while Kennedy Trca placed 7th with a mark of 14′ 9″, while Webster City’s Tateelina Vankham placed 15th with a jump of 13′ 5.25″ and Bonnie Nohrenberg placed 17th with a mark of 13′ 2.25″
In the distance events, CGD’s Harley Charlson placed 6th in 800 meter run with a time of 2:54.77, while Julia Dahlin placed 11th in the 1500 meter run in a time of 6:23.58. In the sprints, CGD’s Jackson Kennedy placed 21st in the 60-meter dash in a time of 9.02, while the Cowgirls swept the 60-meter hurdles with Kennedy Trca winning in a time of 10.27, and Makayla Biesel finished 2nd in a time of 10.28. Clarissa Hasty placed 6th in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 11.05, while also placing 7th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 29.53, as Makenna Hasty placed 6th in the 200 in a time of 29.51. Beisel also won the 200-meter hurdles in a time of 31.59.
For Webster City, Chloe Savitski finished 4th in the 60-meter dash, in a time of 8.44, while also placing 4th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 28.94. McKenzie Mishler placed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles in a mark of 11.44, while placing 8th in the 200-meter hurdles in a time of 35.73. Harper Range placed 16th in the 200-meter hurdles in a mark of 38.84, while Bonnie Nohrenberg placed 19th in the 60-hurdles in a time of 11.99. Alivia Burns also placed 13th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 31.27.
In the relays, CGD placed 4th in the girls shuttle hurdle with a time of 43.94 with the quartet of Beisel-C. Hasty-Jackson-Trca, while placing 5th in the 4×200 in 2:00.62 with the group of C. Hasty-Jackson-Trca-M. Hasty. For Webster City, the girls shuttle hurdle placed 8th with a time of 45.38 with Mishler-Nohrenberg-Vankham-Feitz, while placing 9th in the 4×400 in 5:08.65 with the quartet of Savitski-Steuerwald-Johnson-VanDeer. Webster City would also place 10th in the sprint medley.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would place 6th in the meet with 57 points, while Webster City placed 12th with 12 points. Clear Lake won the meet with 109 points.
