The Webster City Community School Board late Tuesday night announced its selection for superintendent of the district.Matt Berninghaus is the superintendent of the Center Point-Urbana School District in Linn County. He has been serving as superintendent of the district since 2016. Before his current position , Berninghaus spent many years at the Armstrong Ringstead North Union Community School District in various positions including Vocational Agriculture teacher, Guidance Counselor, At-Risk Coordinator,Principal, Special Education Director and Coach. Last Saturday five candidates were interviewed by the Webster City school board. Two finalists were selected and interviewed for the position on Monday and last night. Berninghaus will assume the duties of Webster City school superintendent beginning July 1,2023. He will take over for Mandy Ross who will be retiring as of June 30. Ross has been Webster City superintendent for the past five years. The McPherson and Jacobson LLC consulting firm assisted in the search process for the Webster City school board over the past month.
