Roland-Story basketball sweeps Perry

The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they traveled to northern Dallas County to take on the Perry Bluejays in Heart of Iowa Conference action. The Norsemen girls entered with a record of 8-7 and 7-2 in conference play, while the Norsemen boys entered at 14-1 and 9-0 in conference play.

The girls opened things up looking to move past their blowout loss to (2A) #1 Dike-New Hartford on Monday and they did just that, jumping out to a 16-3 lead over the Bluejays after the first quarter, before extending that lead to 30-11 by halftime. The 3rd quarter showed more of the same, as the Norsemen again dominated and the lead ballooned to 48-22, before easing off the gas in the 4th quarter for a 59-37 win. Claire Truesdell and Kamryn Lande tied for a team-high with 12 points each for the Norsemen.

The boys game followed with Roland-Story looking to continue their torrent pace in the Heart of Iowa, and they did just that by racing out to a 27-8 lead after the first quarter, with the lead the extended to 48-16 at halftime. The 3rd quarter was much of the same, with the Norsemen leading 72-21 after the 3rd, while reserves battled out the 4th for Roland-Story en route to a 79-25 win. Isaiah Naylor led all scorers with 16 points, while Kale Lande finished with 15 points, Perry’s Owen Myers finished with 8 points.

Roland-Story returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Des Moines to take on the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action.
