The Roland-Story Norsemen boys basketball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, as they faced off with the Carroll Tigers of the Raccoon River Conference at the Gilbert Showcase at Gilbert High School. The Norsemen entered with a 12-1 record and an unblemished 9-0 conference mark.
The Norsemen got off to a quick start, leading 15-10 after the opening frame, but the 2nd quarter saw the Carroll offense go blow-for-blow with the Norsemen, as Roland-Story held a 32-28 halftime lead. The Tigers defense would prevail in the 3rd quarter, as they took a 42-39 lead going into the final frame. However, Roland-Story began to impose their will in the 4th quarter, as the Norsemen used defense and turnovers to will themselves into the lead and eventually a 54-50 win.
Jonovan Wilkinson finished with 23 points and 7 rebounds, while Luke Patton finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Roland-Story returns to action on Monday night, as they host a boy/girl doubleheader with Dike-New Hartford at Roland-Story High School.
