The South Hamilton Hawks girls basketball team returned to action on Friday night, when they hosted the Baxter Bolts in non-conference action. South Hamilton entered Friday’s game with a record of 11-2 and 8-1 in conference play, while Baxter entered with a similar 11-2 record and 8-1 record in the Iowa Star Conference.
Mark Henderson’s Hawks would jump out to a quick lead early, leading 18-6 after the first quarter. The Bolts would gain some traction in the 2nd quarter, as they cut the lead to 27-18 at halftime. The 3rd quarter played out much like the 1st quarter, with South Hamilton’s defense holding Baxter at bay as they held a 43-25 lead going into the 4th quarter. Baxter’s offense would finally come to life in the 4th, but it was too little, too late as South Hamilton took home a 56-45 win.
Hallee Feaker led the Hawks with 20 points in the win, as Makena Galetich finished with 15 points and 7 assists. South Hamilton returns to action on Tuesday with a girl/boy doubleheader against Saydel at Saydel High School in Des Moines.
