The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows wrestling team made the trip to south on Thursday night, to compete in a quad dual at Saydel High School in Des Moines. Joining the Cowboys were the host Eagles, West Marshall and Perry.
CGD kicked off the night against West Marshall, as Mack Seaba opened the night with a first period fall over Adam Bartine. Austin Pfantz would respond for the Trojans, picking up a 15-2 major decision over Nash Lienemann, before the Cowboys reeled of 3 straight wins via 2 pins and a decision, to take a 21-4 lead. Eli Meester pinned Reid Huntley to bring West Marshall within 11. However, CGD reeled off a couple big wins at the lighter weights, with a Ryan Hartwig sudden victory over Jack Decker at 106 and a Rigo Bobadilla tech fall (16-0) put CGD up 29-10. West Marshall would take 3 of the next 4 weights, the lone win on an Ethan Traub pin, to bring it to 35-27. However, the Cowboys would slam the door shut with back-to-back pins from Caleb Seaba and Cale Kirstein at 145 lbs and 152 lbs to give CGD a 47-26 win.
The Cowboys would then move on to a dual against Perry, that was marred by pins from CGD and forfeits, as the Cowboys took home a 72-4 thrashing of the Bluejays. The night then wrapped up with an utter domination of the host Saydel Eagles, as Dillon Anderson’s squad took in a 78-6 win over the Eagles.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to New Hampton to compete in the Doc Carr Duals.
