The Webster City Lynx wrestling team made the trip to Marshalltown on Saturday morning, as they competed in the annual Allie Morrison Duals at the Marshalltown Roundhouse at Marshalltown High School. The Lynx were joined by the host Bobcats, Cedar Falls, Des Moines Roosevelt, Johnston and North Polk.
Webster City started their day with a thrashing of Cedar Falls, 51-15, as Austin Mason, CJ Hisler, Landon Griffin, Carson Doolittle, Tristan Mason and Luke Estlund all picked up pins in the win. The Lynx would move on to the hosts in Marshalltown, where they would get off to a fast start, winning 6 of the first 7 matches en route to a 60-12 thrashing of the Bobcats.
Chad Hisler’s Lynx then tallied their biggest rout of the day with an 84-0 shutout of Des Moines Roosevelt, with every Webster City point coming via pin or forfeit. The Lynx then faced off with North Polk, where the Lynx took 7 of the first 8 matches to sprint out to a 38-0 lead and clinch a 52-18 win. The final match of the day pitted the Lynx with (3A) #6 Johnston, as Webster City got off to a fast start, leading 21-0 after 4 matches. Following a pin of Dawson Bertran at 113 lbs, Carson Doolittle made quick work at 120 lbs with a 2nd period fall to extended the Webster City lead to 27-6. Following that match, the Dragons would take 7 of the next 8 weights to come back and take down Webster City 42-33.
The Lynx finished 2nd in the tournament with a 4-1 record, and will return to action with quad dual between Humboldt, Algona and Iowa Falls-Alden on Thursday at Humboldt High School.
