Roland-Story wrestling swept by Humboldt and Clear Lake

The Roland-Story Norsemen wrestling team made the trip north and west on Thursday night, to compete in a triangular dual with the Humboldt Wildcats and the Clear Lake Lions in non-conference action a Humboldt High School.

Roland-Story opened the night with the Lions of Clear Lake, and took an early 12-6 lead thanks to a pair of forfeits. However, following a Noah Potter pin of the Norsemen’s Reece Fulton, forfeits came back to bit the Norsemen, with Max Currier, Aiden Hippen, Christian Dunning, Carter Perry and Hayden Rieck all benefitting from open weights. Jaxon Kadolph would win a 7-4 decision over Jake Trenary and Aaron Peyton would pin Aaron Richtsmeier, but the margin was well out of reach with Clear Lake defeating Roland-Story 60-21.

The host Wildcats were up next for the Norsemen, and the #9 team in IWCOA rankings flexed their muscle early. The match started with Jayden Gargano pinning Reece Fulton at 126 lbs, before forfeits built a 42-0 Humboldt lead. Heavier weights saw Humboldt take down Roland-Story’s best, with the only win coming from Aaron Peyton at 285 lbs, pinning Cael Newell to prevent the shutout, as Humboldt took a 75-6 win.

Roland-Story returns to action on Saturday when they compete in the St. Edmond Duals at St. Edmond High School in Fort Dodge.
