The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams made the trip across Story County on Tuesday night, to take on the Nevada Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Nevada High School. The Norsemen women entered with a 3-1 mark, while the Norsemen boys entered at 2-0.
The girls game would be mired as a slugfest throughout its entirety, with Roland-Story going up 15-6 by the end of the first quarter. However, the two offenses would go stale for the next 2 quarters, as the Norsemen only outscored Nevada 12-11. The 4th quarter saw the Cubs try and make a run late, but Roland-Story would hold on for a 32-28 win.
A battle of the two top teams in the conference on the boys side followed, as Roland-Story welcomed Jonovan Wilkinson back into the lineup, and his returned, matched with a huge night from Isaiah Naylor, showcased the top-tier talent for Darrin Berggren’s squad as the Norsemen picked up 79-56 win. Naylor finished with a game-high 31 points, while Jonovan Wilkinson added 21 points and was 2 rebounds and 2 assists shy of a triple-double.
Roland-Story returns to action on Friday night, when they host the Perry Bluejays at Roland-Story High School in Heart of Iowa Conference action.
