The Webster City Lynx girls basketball team opened their season on Friday night, as they traveled down Highway 17 to Boone to take on the Boone Toreadors at Boone High School. The Toreadors had won the previous 5 meetings between the two coming into Friday night.
Boone wasted little time in going to work on the Lynx, opening up a 19-8 lead after the end of the 1st quarter. Both teams would get after it on the offensive end in the 2nd quarter, with the Toreadors holding a 24-16 advantage in the frame and a 43-24 halftime lead. The 2nd half would see the Lynx tail off and the Toreadors keep pace, outscoring the Lynx 26-17 in the 2nd half for a 69-41 win.
Webster City was led by Alley Odland, who filled the stat sheet with a team-high 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Livia Kasch would finish with 9 pints, while Chloe Anderson tallied 6 points. Olivia Gallentine would add 7 points off the bench as well.
For Boone, their leading scorer came from the bench, as Morgan Kathman finished with 18 points, including a 10/10 night from the free throw line. Junior Erin Ades tallied 17 points, while Natalee Danner finished with 13 points.
Webster City returns to action on Monday night, when they host the Carroll Tigers at Webster City High School with tipoff at 7:30.
