Hamilton County saw a drop in its unemployment rate last month. The Iowa Workforce Development office reported today (Tuesday) the rate for September was at 2.4 percent. In August, the unemployment rate for Hamilton County was at 2.9 percent and in September,2021 the rate was at 3.5 percent. There are 6,770 people employed across the county in September with 170 people unemployed. The unemployment rates for surrounding counties include Boone County at 1.9 percent, Franklin County at 2 percent, Hardin County at 2.3 percent, Story County at 1.8 percent, Webster County at 2.8 percent and the rate for Wright County at 2.1 percent. Iowa’s unemployment rate for September came in at 2.7 percent which is up slightly from the August rate of 2.6 percent
