The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team made the trip east into Benton County on Wednesday night, to face off with the 15th-ranked Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings in Class 3A, Region 6 action. The Norsemen entered with a 22-12 record, while the Vikings entered with a mark of 27-13
Vinton-Shellsburg would come out and get after it from the get out, as the Vikings dominated the opening set by a score of 25-13. Roland-Story would get up off the mat and claw back in the 2nd set, but fell just short by a margin of 25-20. The Vikings would then slam the door shut on the Norsemen in the 3rd set by a final of 25-17 to earn the 3-0 sweep.
Roland-Story’s season concludes at 22-13, while Vinton-Shellsburg advances to face the Mount Vernon Mustangs in the Class 3A, Region 6 final on October 25th.
