The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls volleyball team made the long haul east to Linn County on Wednesday night, to take on the Stormin’ Pointers of Center Point-Urbana in Class 3A, Region 4 action. The Cowgirls entered at 24-3, while the Stormin’ Pointers entered with a 17-17 mark.
Center Point-Urbana made their presence known defensively throughout the match, continuously rejecting numerous attacks from the Cowgirls as they took the opening set 25-20. The second set became a war of attrition as it marched into the later sets. CGD had their opportunities, but Center Point-Urbana would steal the second set 29-27. In set 3, the Cowgirls ran out of a steam as Center Point-Urbana took the final set 25-12.
The Cowgirls season ends at 24-4.
