The 13th-ranked Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls volleyball team opened up Class 3A, Region 4 action on Monday night, as they hosted the Cardinals of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura at CGD High School in Clarion. The Cowgirls entered with a 22-3 record, and champions of the North Central Conference, while Garner-Hayfield-Ventura entered at 10-16.
The Cowgirls opened up the first set of the night with a decisive 25-17 win in set 1. The margins only got wider as the match progressed, as CGD took set 2 by a score of 25-13, before closing the match out in 3 sets with a 25-9 domination in the final set.
Lexie Lane had a quiet night by her standards, but still tallied 10 kills in the win, while Clarissa Hasty and Ady Askelsen contributed 7 kills, as Askelsen also added 3 aces and 11 assists. Karlee Lehman also totaled 11 assists and 3 aces as well.
CGD advances to take on the Stormin’ Pointers of Center Point-Urbana in the Class 3A, Region 4 semifinal at Center Point-Urbana High School on Wednesday at 7 PM.
