The Webster City Lynx volleyball team made the trip to Madison County on Saturday morning, to compete in the Winterset Tournament at Winterset High School. There, the Lynx were joined by the host Huskies, Norwalk, Chariton, South Central Calhoun, Greene County, Gilbert and Red Oak.
Webster City opened up action on Saturday with the Red Oak Tigers from the Hawkeye 10 Conference. The Lynx fell to the Tigers by a final 2-1, by sets of 17-21 and 14-21. Senior Reese Casey led the team in kills with 3, while Livia Kasch finished with 2 kills, and Joslin Gourley tallied 6 assists.
The Lynx would then follow that up with match against the Greene County Rams, where Webster City would take a 2-1 win in sets of 16-21, 21-14 and 15-9. Reese Casey again led the Lynx in kills with 7 and 3 blocks, while Olivia Gallentine added 6 kills. Joslin Gourley and Fallon Casey combined for 19 assists.
The hosts in the Winterset Huskies were next up for Webster City, as the Lynx took home another 2-1 win over their foes from the Raccoon River Conference by sets of 21-17, 12-21 and 15-10. Reese Casey once more tallied 8 kills, while Olivia Gallentine and Livia Kasch tallied 4 kills each. Joslin Gourley and Fallon Casey combined for 17 assists in the match.
Webster City would close the day with a match against the Norwalk Warriors from the Little Hawkeye Conference, and were swept 2-0 by sets of 19-21 and 14-21. Joslin Gourley, Reese Casey and Olivia Gallentine were all tied for the team lead in kills with 3 each, while Gourley and Fallon Casey had 4 assists each, while Alley Odland served up 4 aces.
Webster City concludes the regular season with a 20-15 record and will open up postseason play on Tuesday, when they host the Fort Dodge Dodgers in Class 4A, Region 6 quarterfinal action at 7 PM.
