Roland-Story Volleyball goes 4-1 in Woodward-Granger Tournament

The Roland-Story Norse volleyball team made the trip into Dallas County on Saturday morning, to compete in the annual Norm McCune Invitational at Woodward-Granger High School in Woodward. The Norse were joined by the host Hawks, AC/GC, Colfax-Mingo, Grand View Christian, Panorama.

The Norse opened up their action on Saturday with a 2-0 sweep of the Panorama Panthers from the West Central Activities Conference by sets of 21-12 and 21-10. Madelyn Risdal led the Norse in kills with 8, while Ali Charlson tallied 15 assists in the opening match.

Roland-Story then moved on to the hosts in Woodward-Granger, dominating the Hawks in a 2-0 sweep by sets of 21-13 and 21-18. Madelyn Risdal again led the way in kills with 9, while Kamryn Lande finished with 6 kills. Ali Charlson added 16 assists and 3 aces as well.

Match three saw the Norse face another West Central Activities Conference opponent in the AC/GC Chargers, where the Norsemen again picked up another 2-0 sweep in sets of 21-18 and 21-7. Madelyn Risdal totaled 10 kills, while Kamryn Lande added 7 kills. Ali Charlson finished with 21 assists.

Colfax-Mingo was the next opponent up for the Norse, and again Roland-Story garnered a 2-0 sweep, by sets of 21-17 and 21-8. Kamryn Lande tallied a tournament-high 13 kills, while Reagan Faber added 6 kills. Ali Charlson tallied a tournament-high 24 assists in the win as well.

Grand View Christian would be Roland-Story’s final opponent, and the Vikings once again had the Norse’s number with a 2-0 sweep by sets of 21-16 and 21-19. Kamryn Lande finished with 6 kills, while Madelyn Risdal added 5 kills. Ali Charlson finished with 14 assists.

Roland-Story concludes the regular season at 21-12 and will host South Tama on Monday night in their Class 3A, Region 6 opener at Roland-Story High School.
