Webster City volleyball handles Bishop Garrigan, 3-1

The Webster City Lynx volleyball team made the trip north on Tuesday night, to take on the Golden Bears of Algona Bishop Garrigan in non-conference action at Bishop Garrigan High School. The Lynx entered with a record of 17-12 while the Golden Bears entered with a record of 17-10.

Webster City managed to get off to a fast start against their former North Central Conference rivals, taking the first set by a score of 25-20. That was followed by a set 2 win by a margin of 25-22. Bishop Garrigan would manage to take a set in set 3 by a score of 25-14, before the Lynx would squash any hope of comeback with a 25-21 set 4 win.

Olivia Gallentine led the way for Webster City hitters with 8 kills, while Sierra Rattenborg and Joslin Gourley finished with 6 kills. Gourley also finished with 10 assists, while Fallon Casey had 13 to lead the team. For Bishop Garrigan Molly Joyce and Iowa State-basketball commit Audi Crooks combined for 34 kills, while Maggie Vaske tallied 34 assists for the Golden Bears.

The Lynx return to action on Thursday night as they host conference-leaders Clarion-Goldfield-Dows for senior night. First serve is slated for 7:30 PM at Webster City High School.
