The Webster City Lynx and the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and Cowgirls cross country teams made the trip north on Tuesday night to Humboldt to compete in the annual North Central Conference cross country meet at Joe Sheldon County Park. The Lynx and Cowboys/Cowgirls were joined by the host Wildcats, Algona, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden and St. Edmond.
Beginning with Girls 5K, neither of the area teams were able to compete in the team race. Webster City’s Emma Peck was the top area-placer in 22nd in a mark of 24:43.46. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows’s Lauren Hansch placed 39th in 32:06.
In the Boys 5K, Webster City placed 5th as a team, with the top-finisher in senior Brayden Henely in 13th with a mark of 19:30.28. Aiden Rahe placed 21st in 20:14.33, Tristan Maxwell was 32nd in 21:47.28, Jack Barner finished 35th in 21:51.97, Owne Patterson was 38th in 22:25.09, Kyzer Zinnel placed 40th in 22:30.37, as Justin Callahan rounded out the lineup in 42nd in 23:01.94
For Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Christopher Greenfield was the top runner for the Cowboys, placing 22nd in 20:24.69. Tate Jackson placed 39th in 22:26.41, while Hunter Smidt placed 51st in a time of 31:53.46.
