The Eagle Grove Eagles will hit the road for the final time in the regular season on Friday night, when they make the trek across Wright County to take on the Belmond-Klemme Broncos in Class 1A, District 2 action in Belmond. The Broncos enter with an 0-6 record, and an 0-3 district mark, while the Eagles are 2-4 on the season, and have a 1-2 district record.
Eagle Grove looks to build off their 48-14 win over Manson-Northwest Webster a week ago, and will be welcomed into Belmond by a team that’s hungry for their first win in over two years.
The Broncos offense starts with quarterback Jose Alfaro, who’s thrown for 247 yards and 1 touchdown, but with 8 interceptions. His favorite target this season has been junior wide receiver Tyreon Franklin, who’s caught 10 passes for 140 yards and Alfaro’s lone touchdown pass on the season. Senior Brian Duran and junior Robert Naranjo have also been involved in the passing game for Belmond-Klemme. On the ground, the Broncos do not have a back that has surpassed 100 yards on the season, but Aiden Friedow and Gavin O’Connor will get a lions share of the carries for the Broncos offense.
Defensively, Aiden Friedow has been the heartbeat of this Belmond-Klemme defense. The sophomore has recorded 54.5 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in his sophomore campaign. Other key contributors for the Broncos defense have been Brody Paulsen, Robert Naranjo, Cooper Schleisman and Raymundo Castillo, with Schleisman and Castillo combining for 3 sacks and 7 tackles for loss.
Kickoff from Belmond-Klemme High School is scheduled for 7 PM on Friday night.
