The Webster City Lynx volleyball team made the trip down Highway 17 on Saturday morning, to compete in the Madrid Tournament at Madrid High School. The Lynx were joined by the host Tigers, Audubon, 1A #8 Ankeny Christian, Baxter, Belmond-Klemme, Collins-Maxwell and Van Meter.
The Lynx started their Saturday with a 2-0 sweep of the Wheelers from Audubon, by sets of 21-17 and 21-19. Livia Kasch led the team with 5 kills in the match, while Olivia Gallentine finished 3. Joslin Gourley had 11 assists.
Webster City would then face off with tournament hosts Madrid, where the Tigers took the opening set 21-19, before the Lynx roared back for a 21-7 set 2 win before closing it out in set 3, 15-10. Reese Casey led with 6 kills, while Joslin Gourley, Livia Kasch, Olivia Gallentine and Sierra Rattenborg all had 5 kills each. Gourley finished with 14 assists, while Fallon Casey tallied 12 assists.
Belmond-Klemme was the next foe for the Lynx, and Webster City made quick work of the Broncos in a 2-0 sweep, winning by sets of 21-12 and 21-14. Sierra Rattenborg, Livia Kasch and Abby Gallentine were tied for the team-lead in kills with 4 each. Joslin Gourley and Fallon Casey combined for 17 assists.
Webster City ended their day with 1A #8 Ankeny Christian, who flexed their ranking against the Lynx in a 2-0 sweep, by sets of 21-18 and 21-6. Livia Kasch led the team with 3 kills, while Joslin Gourley had 5 assists in the loss.
The Lynx day ended with a 3-1 record, and will return to action on Thursday as they host Hampton-Dumont-CAL in NCC play.
