Dominant Ground Game Leads Webster City over LeMars, 28-7

Webster City started things off with a bang on Friday, as Jaxon Cherry took the 2nd play from scrimmage 76 yards for a touchdown to put Webster City up 7-0. Both sides would then trade punts until Jaxon Cherry broke loose for a 2nd time in the 1st half, this a time a 57-yard touchdown run to put Webster City up 14-0 in the 1st quarter. The Lynx would force another LeMars punt before Webster City would use a more conventional drive, putting together a 91-yard drive, capped off by a short touchdown run by Jaxon Cherry at the start of the 2nd quarter to make the score 21-0. The Bulldogs offense would finally make some noise on the ensuing drive, using a big pass from Teagen Kasel to Conner Jalas that set up a Kasel touchdown pass to Beau Wadle to cut the score to 21-7. LeMars would build momentum by intercepting a Ty McKinney pass, but a Jovany Kabongo 37-yard field goal missed wide right, to keep the score 21-7 going to halftime.

The 2nd half was much more of a defensive slugfest, as the both teams continuously forced punts. The Bulldogs would be the first to flinch in the 2nd half, as they would botch a reverse on a punt return, setting up the Lynx inside the 20. Jaxon Cherry would punch in a 4-yard touchdown run to cap off a career night to make the score 28-7. Cherry would carry the ball 28 times for 332 yards and 4 touchdowns, averaging nearly 12 yards per carry.
