The Webster City Lynx volleyball team made the trip north on I-35 on Tuesday night, to take on the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Clear Lake High School. The Lions entered at 11-7 and 1-3 in the conference, while Webster City entered at 10-7 and 3-1 in conference play.
The first set was neck and neck throughout, with Webster City taking the set in extras by a final of 26-24. The second set was much like the first, only with Clear Lake flipping the script and taking a narrow 25-23 win. Sets 3 and 4 would be more decisive, with Webster City winning 25-19 in set 3 and Clear Lake winning 25-20 in set 4. The winner-take-all 5th set then saw the Lions out last the Lynx 15-13 to score a big upset win.
Senior Sierra Rattenborg led the Lynx with 12 kills on the night, while Reese Casey finished with 9 kills, while also leading the team in blocks with 7. Joslin Gourley added 24 assists with her 8 kills, while Fallon Casey finished with 21 assists.
Webster City returns to action this weekend when travel south on Highway 17 to compete in the Madrid Invitational at Madrid High School.
