Roland-Story volleyball has strong showing at home tournament

The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team hosted their home tournament on Monday evening, using both the north and south gyms at Roland-Story High School. Teams also in attendance at the tournament included (2A) #12 Carroll Kuemper, South Hardin, PCM and Marshalltown.

The Norsemen opened action against PCM, where they took care of business quickly against their Heart of Iowa Conference peer, winning 2-0 with sets of 21-15 and 21-11 to open up the tournament 1-0. Roland-Story then moved on to the Knights of Carroll Kuemper, and upended the 12th ranked team in 2A by a final of 2-1, winning by totals of 21-19, 17-21 and 15-13.

Molly Giese’s crew wasn’t quite able to ride the wave of momentum for long, as the South Hardin Tigers swept the Norsemen for a 2-0 win, with totals of 21-14 and 21-11. Roland-Story would round out the tournament with a 2-1 win over Class 5A Marshalltown, winning by totals of 21-23, 21-14 and 15-11.

Roland-Story returns to action on Tuesday night when they host the Eagles of Saydel at Roland-Story High School.
