Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball team made the trip south to Boone on Saturday, to compete in the annual Boone Invitational at Boone High School. The Cowgirls were joined by the host Toreadors, (4A) #9 Waverly-Shell Rock, Grand View Christian and Forest City.
The Cowgirls started the day with a win in a 2-0 sweep over the host Toreadors, winning by totals of 21-12 and 21-14. CGD then followed it up with a 2-1 win over Grand View Christian by sets of 21-18, 6-21 and 15-12. The afternoon brought some tougher competition, as the Cowgirls fell to the perennial power Waverly-Shell Rock in a 2-0 sweep by sets of 21-16 and 21-17. CGD concluded their day with a 2-0 loss to the Indians of Forest City, losing in sets of 21-14 and 21-18.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Tuesday with a North Central Conference matchup against Iowa Falls-Alden at 7:30 PM.
