The Webster City Lynx softball team hosted home action for the 2nd night in a row, as the Lynx welcomed in a conference foe in the Clear Lake Lions to Webster City High School. The Lions entered with an 0-2 record, while Webster City entered at 3-1 in both squads conference-opener.
The Lynx struck first with a Trinity Griffith RBI double in the 2nd to give the Lynx a 1-0 advantage. Clear Lake would answer with an unearned run in the top of the 3rd, to tie the game up at 1. That one run was all that Delainey Bargfrede would allow on the mound, locking down the Lions from there. The bottom of the 3rd saw an Alayna Finucan RBI single give Webster City the lead back at 2-1, before the 4th saw the Lynx plate 5 runs courtesy of Alayna Finucan and Trinity Griffith RBI’s to take a 7-1 lead. The Lynx would keep the Lions at bay for the 7-2 win, as Delainey Bargfrede pitched the complete game, with the 1 unearned run, with 11 strikeouts.
Webster City returns to action on Friday, when they host the Cowgirls of Clarion-Goldfield-Dows at Webster City High School, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
