The Webster City Lynx baseball team hosted home action for the second night in a row on Wednesday night, as they welcomed NCC-rival Clear Lake to Webster City High School. The Lions entered with a 1-4 mark and an 0-2 record in conference, while Webster City entered at 4-4 and 2-0 in the conference.
Lynx ace Zach Dyvig took the mound on Wednesday night, and found himself in some early trouble, allowing an RBI single to Wes Wharton with the bases loaded to give the Lions an early 1-0 lead. Webster City would respond with Keegan Hisler sprinting out an infield hit that allowed Devon Stoakes to score to tie the game at 1-1. The Lynx would get another run across in the 3rd off a Connor Hansen RBI Double to put Webster City up 2-1. The game throughout consisted of a pitchers duel between Dyvig and Clear Lake’s Jett Neuberger, but it was Neuberger who was the first to flinch, exiting in the bottom of the 6th with the bases loaded. That was the precursor to 9 Webster City runs in the 6th as the Lynx walked-off an 11-1 victory. RBI’s came courtesy of Ty McKinney (5), Devon Stoakes (8), Keegan Hisler (9), Connor Hansen (1), Briar Klaver (2), Josh Griep (1) and Matthew Tesdahl (2).
Webster City is back in action on Thursday night, as they travel to Fonda to take on Newell-Fonda in a make up of a rainout, with first pitch slated for 5:30 PM.
