The Webster City Lynx softball team opened up their home slate on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Storm Lake Tornadoes from the Lakes Conference. Storm Lake entered with a record of 2-1, identical to the Lynx’s record in the young 2022 season.
Storm Lake would be the first ones on the board on Tuesday night, thanks in part to a Josie Hernandez home run to give the Tornadoes a 1-0 lead. From there on out, it was all Webster City, as the Lynx tallied 3 runs in the 3rd to take a 3-1 lead, before adding a run in the 4th and 4 runs in the 5th to lead it 8-2. The Tornadoes would scratch one more run across, but could not must enough offense to overcome the 8-3 margin. RBI contributors for the Lynx were Kelly Stoakes (2), Bonnie Nohrenberg (2), Trinity Griffith (4) and Adeline Tesdahl (1). Delainey Bargfrede pitched a complete game with 16 strikeouts and only allowing 6 hits.
Webster City returns to action on Wednesday night as they host the Clear Lake Lions at Webster City High School, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
