Eagle Grove baseball squeaks by Bishop Garrigan, 3-2

The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team opened action in Week 3 of the High School Baseball season by hosting the Golden Bears of Bishop Garrigan at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. The Golden Bears entered at 3-3, while the Eagles came in at 2-2.

The battle of Top of Iowa West foes was maintained as a pitchers duel throughout the night, but the scoring did eventually come. The Golden Bears got on the board first in the top of the 3rd, off a Justin Bauer RBI double and a Garrett Heying RBI single to hold a 2-0 lead. The Eagles would then wait until the 5th to rally the troops, plating 3 runs on a solo home run from Andrew Dencklau, followed by a Blake Morgan RBI double, which later saw him score on an error to make it 3-2 Eagle Grove. Eagles started Jake Jeske would shut it down after that, pitching another complete game with 8 strikeouts to give the Eagles a 3-2 victory.

Eagle Grove returns to action on Wednesday, when they make the trip north to take on the Lake Mills Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
