#9 Roland-Story softball bounces back against West Marshall, 5-0

The Roland-Story Norse softball team took the diamond on Tuesday night, still in search of their first win on the season as they welcomed in conference foe West Marshall to Hennessy Diamond in Roland. The Trojans entered with a record of 0-2 on the season.

Roland-Story’s night started off with a bang, as Ally Ringsby charged up the Norse lineup with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the 1st to put Roland-Story up 1-0. The second inning saw Alynn Solberg score off an error by West Marshall’s Emma Stanley to extend the advantage 2-0. Roland-Story would then plate 2 runs in the 3rd, the first off a Macy Friest RBI double, the second off a Lydia Oetker safety squeeze to give the Norse a 4-0 advantage. The bats would be quiet for a couple of innings, before an Alyssa Jones RBI single in the 6th gave Roland-Story a 5-0 advantage and their first win of the year. Madison Giese would throw a complete game, 3-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts on the night.

Roland-Story softball will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Perry in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Hennessy Diamond in Roland, with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
